Most likely, this is a formatting issue. To resolve, open your problem excel file and then go to Express and download a NEW import template. Copy your data, paste it into the fresh import file, and save to your desktop with a name slightly different then the original file. Finally, attempt to import your template file (full of your data) and you should not have any problems.
When copying and pasting, formatting issues can easily arise within common applications. Excel is no exception, therefore understanding how to seamlessly transfer data is the key to a quick and easy import. Make sure that anytime you import leads into the system, you are doing so with a fresh import template. As stated above, copying and pasting, and even saving and re-saving a file can tweak the formatting necessary for it to be recognized by Express. Common signs of a formatting problem include, the status pop up quitting after a second, a blank white screen, an xml parcing error, no logging of your upload attempt in the log box, or the page refreshing without any notification whatsoever.
